My babies have gone again

I loved having my wonderful daughter and grandson here the past two weeks!  Though I didn’t have much time, I spent every minute I could w/ them.  I really hated to see them leave today.

I did miss my wonderful blog and my readers, however I’ve been very ill the past few days and I must crash for now.  I hope you had a glorious two weeks and I hope to see you again soon!!

Important Update!!

I’m undecided now as to whether to move the entire blog to http://www.ravenmarlow.com or to just have it redirect to here for now.  I’ll post updates as they come.  Of course, opinions are always welcome in the comments below.

For now, I’m taking a week off.  Today is my wonderful daughter’s 20th birthday and she is bringing her son from out-of-state and spending some time with me.  Between work and homework, it’s going to be difficult to get much time with her.  I have two papers coming up due and LOTS of reading, of course! LOL

Anyhow, I want to spend as much time w/ my baby and her baby while they are here, so I guess we could consider this my vacation week!   Happy Valentines day!!  Tell me what you are doing for V-Day in the comments below!

5 Reasons Kitties and Computers Don’t Mix

I am the proud pet of 8 wonderful kitties (well 10, temporarily).  All of the below have actually happened to me except the first, which happened to an acquaintance of mine, so I thought I’d share the wonderful joys of mixing kitties and computers:
1)  Laptops are warm and if given left alone, soon kitty will curl up on top to sleep and:

2)  Kitties LOVE to walk on keyboards… to this day I still don’t know why my keyboard sounds a tone every time certain keys are pressed.  I haven’t been able to find a setting anywhere, but at least I know when they turn on my caps lock now!
3)  Kitties like to chase little mice, even when they are on a computer screen.  then they start pawing at said computer screen, leaving wonderful scratch marks
4) It’s always lovely sitting down to your computer and seeing snot bubbles all over your computer screen…aw man who sneezed on my screen this time?!?
5) Last but not least…NEVER turn around to play with the dog when there is a cat on your desk.  No kidding, Artemis went to sleep on my keyboard. I looked up and had a message on Facebook telling me I’d left too many comments and was banned from commenting with a link for more information.  I clicked through the error only to find the comments on my friend’s status looked something like:

aofkjiodfas
kjds

and so on.  My cat left over TWO HUNDRED comments on my friend’s status in about two minutes.  The poor girl had set her Facebook to text the comments to her.  I believe it was over thirty minutes later when she told me her phone finally stopped going off.  So glad she didn’t pay per text!
Also, the language on the ban was very indefinite.  Banned for at least 24 hours, but could be longer, however if you attempt to comment in the meantime, your ban will be extended.  Please be patient until the ban lifts.  Well…how the heck do you know when it’s lifted?  I didn’t get any notification, I just kept trying about every 6 hours after I got up the next day.  It was about 26 hours before I could comment again.

What experiences have you had with animals and computers?

Crystal Blue – with cool new history!!

I wrote this for a former teacher of mine while looking at, and inspired by, a picture of an eagle.  I’m re-posting today because after I showed her the poem, she showed me this picture….

Crystal Blue, the aforementioned teacher, took this picture the DAY BEFORE I was randomly inspired to write this poem about her while staring at an eagle picture  in my bedroom!!!  How cool is that!  I couldn’t think of anything to write that night and just scribbled a bit with my eyes closed. When I opened them, my eyes focused on the eagle picture in my room. I let my eyes go soft and continued to scribble, and soon the poem just came to me.

Has anything like this happened to you?  Let me know in the comments below

The Eagle soars as Eagles do
‘Neath a sky of Crystal Blue,
And the Wolf whose mournful howls
Are no match for feral growls
Oh the Kitties how they pounce
How they tumble, how they bounce,
See the Ravens crow and dither
As they fly both yon and hither.
All of these can e’er be found
If you only look around.

Moving soon, I hope—SO tired

I have my own domain now.  http://www.ravenmarlow.com.  After it’s up, I’ll double post everything for a month or two, but then this site will retire, probably.

I’m so tired from staring at a computer screen all day for work and then all night for homework (read all my classwork tonight for one week and part of last week’s too…Yes, I was late).  My eyes and head …and well my whole body hurts from Fibromyalgia.  The weather front moving in has me barely able to move, so instead of writing tonight I’m going to post my journal entry for last night:

Can't we all just get along??

Class today—well it sucked.  Apparently even gadgets on a desk piss off the professor, whether using them or not.  LOVE being treated like I’m 2. NOT!!  Ah well…the next class has a great professor, but I feel clueless on some things while my much younger classmates seem to already know everything. MAN I feel OLD!!  Remind me again WHY I’m in school…anybody?

I’m beginning to see it as little more than a roadblock to my writing.  Unfortunately, there are financial reasons why I really need to stay in, so stay in I will.

Besides…what if I can’t make it?  What if I never make a career in writing?  I read an article the other day that showed how a certain company is making it all but impossible for new authors to gain success.  Sure they can publish, but without a name, who’s going to buy your work?

Basically, either you already have it or you never will.  It doesn’t bode well for my reams for the future.  I really hope that article is wrong.  OR–I hope I’m the exception (long with some close friends).  I’d really LOVE more time to write and develop a fan base–even meet fans.  Besides, my day job is slowly killing me.  I really need to get out if IT!  I know…how did I go from IT to writing? That, my friends, was a very LONG journey.

Maybe someday I’ll share a bit of it.  But not today—

What are you looking for?  What are your dreams? I would love to hear them!

PS if anyone knows who the picture creds belong to, please let me know. I saved it years ago. Thanks bunches!
